Then & Now - Part 5

This will be a rather brief "Then and Now" posting, only one person ...

Those who've been following this blog for a while will notice that I'm modifying the format slightly to allow more than one "Then" photo, when they are available. Sometimes having a time series of photos allows us to portray an "evolution", which can be very interesting ...

Today we feature our recently reconnected friend KC (Form 5 Sc, 1976) who now resides in Perth, Oz with his family. I understand he has 3 kids.
Qualified as an accountant, "Panjang" spent some time in Singapore before moving to Australia, where he is presently an investigator with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
The three "Then" photos came from 1971, 1974 and 1978, all during the St Joe days. "Now" is a recent shot (2009) that he sent me only yesterday.

As I said, folks, a short posting today. But as others send me their old and current photos, I hope to share more with you in future.

  1. Hi Kevin ... not sure I will be able to recognise you if I bumped into you on the streets .

  2. Hi KC..I am not sure I agree with Anon. 11.17 PM.
You look much the same as in 76. How do you manage to have dark hair and still lots of them, unlike "Botak" PC? He needs the secrets from you, Man!. May be lots of Kangaroo or Ostrich steaks, wash down with Penfolds Red?

    Good on you mate!

I can still remember you practising throwing the Discus on the field near the canteen/sixth formers classrooms block.

    Great to see you online.
    Cheers ... Lawrence

  4. James, you're doing great - momentum is picking up in this blog! Way to go, bro! :)

  5. Indeed he is. I just pointed out to Jimmy boy that this blog is going to reach the milestone of 10,000 hits very soon. What an achievement!

  6. LK, it's an optical illusion. I'm greying just as much as any of you. I remember you as the kid who joined us in F4/F5 from Brunei. I heard you were in Sydney at one stage and now you're in Canada. Quite the world traveller.

LC, what were you doing up at 1.56am? It's good to see the picture of you and your son in the earlier post. You're looking well.

James, I was going to ask you where you got the pic from 1971 but the mystery has been solved. I don't remember ever seeing the photo that KCK has sent in. This blog could become a great repository of memories for all of us. I've got to redouble my efforts to see what else I can find and I urge others to do the same.

  7. Hey "Gemuk"CLK, looks like you'll be joining my exclusive club soon! I'm still looking to collect on my steak settlement from you. You can keep your Quad-by-pass! ;D

  8. I can not denial the "Gemuk" status. But as for the hair and "Botak" status, I am not interested in joining your exclusive club. Keep it to you and RZ.
Steak and Red wine I enjoy, so perhaps an eating club? Don't worry, we have JK as consultant and honourable member to the club and free operation on "any kind of Heart issues" if required. Right JK?

  9. If you don't want to join my exclusive club, then I'll join yours instead. Hell, I've been a honourable member of the "Gemuk" club for a few years already. Hence the "towkay" and "posperous" quips from some.:)

  10. Sorry, you are not "gemuk" enough. No membership granted. Your reunion photos showed a very fit PC, albeit Botak. May be if i shave my head, I will end up like you, slim and sexy?

  11. Hi Jaga,

The site counter is reaching the 10k mark. Perhaphs there should be a prize for the 10k hit.
Can you even identify the 10,000th?

    ReplyDelete
  12. You mean like playing the Lottery, hah? No, I don't think I can easily identify the 10,000th hit, unless by chance I happen to be signed in & monitoring closely. And even then, I can only tell which country the person is signing from, not the identity.

Having said that, if you Anon 1:16PM identify yourself & offer to sponsor the prize (of say ... an all expenses paid trip to Siem Reap?), I will try my best. Ha ha.

  13. Kevin, you used to have extremely neat handwriting when you were in school. Your notes looked like they were beautifully scribed by some medieval monk in a monastry. Curious whether the years have made any difference to your writing?

    ReplyDelete
  14. That's because I WAS the medieval monk, James. Having left the monastery, my handwriting has deteriorated to the extent that I sometimes can't read what I've written. Too much keyboarding doesn't help either.

  15. KC really has a head start over us all.
He makes more money than we all do. Don't believe me, then check this out:

  16. Hahaha good one, Leo. I've also been told that I'm fat so I'm miles ahead of you vertically and horizontally challenged folks. Only the Aussies can come up with this sort of bulldust.

    ReplyDelete
  17. KC, this is not something confined to Aussies. The fact was already reported by the Brits as far back as Year 2000 (a good 9 years earlier) here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/1038531.stm

Since it is now an established fact that you are miles ahead of us vertically and horizontally challenged folks, we would expect more than just virtual cocktails on you soon.

  18. Hey KC, you also seem to be getting the girls as well :

  19. If only it was true about the girls and the moolah...I wonder where it went wrong for me.
Anyway, Leo, what's a few drinks between friends?
