Once again, thanks very much KCK and do keep the photos coming !
As usual, here are the zoomed-in shots ...

Undoubtedly a great sporting momento. Now for a couple of questions:
* Firstly, how many of the chaps in the above picture can you name ?
xxxxx
* Secondly, what year was this picture taken?
xxxxx* And thirdly, could the next picture be the same team a few minutes later? And if so, can you match face to bum ? :-)
xxxxxxxxxx
Before the entire team decide to find me and do their "scrum" on top of me, let me hasten to say: JUST KIDDING GUYS !!! LOL
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great photo indeed. The first one, I mean :-)
ReplyDeleteI see KCK standing next to Bro Adrian.
ReplyDeleteI am sure everyone can point out Bro. Adrian.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can remember of the great duels SJS rugby team had with that from Dragon School. And how many of us can remember Dragon School?
Of course there another worthy opponent in St. Patrick's then.
I remember good old SJS almost always comes out tops against these formidable opponents.
I was always there cheering from the sidelines at Song Kheng Hai grounds. It was a joy to watch Nick get the ball on the wing and hurtle towards the touchline. Absolutley no one could catch him.
ReplyDeleteexcuse me website jaga, can you zoom in the final photo also?
ReplyDeleteI see the trophy cup. Can any of the team remember which match this was?
ReplyDeleteI can see Nic Lau, front row, third from left.
ReplyDeletePhilip Chin (standing, 4th from right) looks so serious.
ReplyDeleteCLK looks "fit"
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 2.48PM.
ReplyDeleteyou see photo, but do you see the long pants/trousers of most of those in the back row?
Hah, so that photo was not immediately after any match. Haha.
What's the name of the chap standing 3rd from left? The smiling one.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone in touch with Sim Pheng Siew (standing, leftmost) ? If so, can pass me his contact details?
ReplyDeleteIs that Robert Lee sitting down (right section pic, first one from left? It looks like it's him? He's in Brunei now. Anyone knows Thambi(Ng)? He's with Deloitte in Brunei. Email me if you want to keep in touch with Robert and Thambi - I have their contacts, :).
ReplyDeleteJames W, can u contact those boys and tell them about this website & this picture in particular. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNames on the photo - Standing from left to right: Peng Siew, Lip Kee, J Jingutt, Poi Jin, Philip C, Kuek Man, Chee Kok and Bro Adrian.
ReplyDeleteSitting from left to right: Pok Vun, Philip, Nick, Robert, Seng Chai and ??? (he was one year our senior).
Great photo, KCK. More of these treasures, please
I remember that the sun was particularly strong that day. Hence the mean squint from most of us!
ReplyDeleteI think the cup was for being the Inter Schhol Champion in 1976. We won most of our matches with high scores! I think we even beat Sacret Heart School from Sibu in a friendly.
ReplyDeleteI remember Dragon Scool. They travelled a long way to compete. Bau was another team from that area. They have long distance runners like "Draman Zeladdin" who was No 1, and ran with a strange striking pattern. There was also a long hair girl who ran long distance without shoes. Most of them ran without shoes from that area. KCK was a middle distance runner, Peng Siew with hurdles, KC in discuss, Poi Jin with Javelin and Shot Putt, Nick with all the short sprint distances. SJS were Inter School Champions for years....Fond memories..man...
Wow CLK, again good memories the females ala 'a long hair girl who ran long distance without shoes'. Living up to your reputation.
ReplyDeleteDon't let your other half see all this.
Haha.
Yah, Memories of a macho rugby guy humiliated by being outrun by a long hair barefooted female runner last a life time! Scarred for life, CLK?
ReplyDeleteHi...guys
ReplyDeleteI heard that the standards in terms of sporting activities for SJS has gone downhill. It's a real shame. We used to be so proud of wearing the SJS badge and we were literally good in most activities and not just on sports (probably even at chasing chabohs...lol). In a way, we were very "professional" in our undertakings and very committed, of course a lot of work and encouragement were from the staff/teachers of SJS. Although, I heard the present SJS students are quite good at marching band performance - forfeiting the machoism status!!!....lol. Must be the sign of times. Anyone care to add or verify this?
A bit og googling and I found the following about the SJS marching school band.

and a few others if you have the interest to search around. Sorry, website jaga, this topic may be out of context about our past memories but I am sure this information will surprise a number of us including myself. Not forgetting some of our classmates may have children at SJS and potential stars in the band.
No problem John. This website is quite free & easy. Anything of interest to any one of us is by definition relevant.
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteapparently it is not only the standards of sporting activities that is downhill. Other aspects as well. But would rather not share them here lest we all that depressed and begin to have negative thoguhts about good old SJS.
Let's continue to have fun sharing the good old times we had.
Cheers.
Aiyo, are the bums really so white? Need to blow up picture some more, Website jaga, so that we can examine who's who. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSinos asked:
ReplyDeleteDo anyone know where is Ong Poi Jin now?
Drahman Jeladin...used to be my branch manager during my stint with Bank Utama in the early 80s. Haven't seen him since then.
Rugby day...yes..those were the good great old days.I used to play too but not in the winning team lah..
Cheers...bon weekend
didn't Bro Mark also coach rugby at one time?
ReplyDeleteMore rugby photos coming soon.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know where is Sim Pheng Siew these days? At one time he was working in Singapore, but I believe he moved somewhere else.
