A Micro-Reunion in Cambridge, UK

Just received news from James Kuo about a micro-reunion they had in the UK last week. I'll let JK describe the event in his own words ...

"On the morning of the 18th April 09, we set off on a long 5 hours drive to Cambridge to pay a visit to the 'Brain' of Form 5 1976 (Mr Ho Boon Chiang).

For those of you who may be suffering from early onset dementia, Mr HBC is the guy who owned a crappy old bike and whose official residence was at The Library, St Joseph's School. He held on stubbornly/greedily to the No 1 position in the Class year after year. While he remained 100% focused on his work, most of the others (ha ha, me excluded) would be focusing on the beauties across the road. Now who is missing out then? Well boys, he has finally met his match. He was discussing statistics with his better half (IN) and it was obvious who the winner was. Mr BC, let me remind you of the 2 golden rules. No 1: never argue with a Cambridge Professor, No 2: even if you are right, admit defeat to keep the peace at home, right???

The long journey was well worth it as we were treated to a feast of local Malaysian food: Sarawak Laksa, Belacan Bee Hoon, home made kaya etc. Yum yum. Compliments to the Chef esp the daughter, EH, who prepared the delicious belacan bee hoon. Thank you.

Most of the conversations were centered on our 'old' classmates back at the Kampung. It was a great evening overall and we set off back home at 9.30pm and arriving back home the following day at 7 pm (OK, that was with a stopover in Birmingham). "

Now for the photos ...

Wow! We managed to get BC to smile!

Thanks for the update. From the looks of it, a wonderful feast and reunion. The first of many such gatherings I'm sure ... next time, make sure we are invited too, ok? :-)

  3. BC old friend, great to see you happy and settled in Cambridge. Regards to Irene and the girls (Serene and Lisa all grown up now - but where's Samantha?) from Pearl and me. I remember you and Irene were planning to send the girls to Perth at one stage but that didn't work out.

  5. BC,
Other than what JK said, I also remember the weight lifting room at SJS with you pumping away. Somehow I also remember you wearING a short necklace of some kind. Right?
Well, good to see you smile and what a happy family shot with JK and Khim.

Thanks JK for the smiling BC...

  7. Hello KC. Phew, you got your sums right this time. One is missing but not Samantha. She is the one in purple. Oh, I am pleased to announce that Brain is once again a proud owner of another old bike (a less crappy one this time) and cycles with the Don. He cycles daily to the Newton apple tree outside Trinity College and is still waiting for one of those damn apples to drop on his head!!!

  8. Oh my bad! Sorry for the error, Sam. In any event, you're all looking swell. Does your dad still play the guitar and sing? And do we have to call your mum Prof Irene? She was my junior at uni and had to address me as "Senior Gentleman Sir!!!"

Hey JK, even a dumb accountant knows that 3 is not as hard to count as 21 (or 20.5 - have you come across many 0.5's in your career? I'd like to know what they look like!)

  9. Hello KC. Yeah, many 0.5 compared to......... All relative, you know. Think we should move back to the other post to continue to discuss this. Poor BC wouldn't have a clue what this is about.

Spring must be more tolerable for you and the summer will be more glorious.Did James tell you that on our drive there in Dec., I lost my voice by the time we arrived at Cambridge? Too much talking.
