#1 : A view of Khoo Hun Yeang Street, with the golden domed mosque in the background
#2 : Ban Hock Lane, behind Electra House (where car parking is usually a problem during most of the day)
#3 : Inside the Open Air Market (sorry the shot isn't very clear - the place is not well lit, and this amateur photographer still has much to learn about compensating for such conditions. Free photography tips most welcome!)
#4 : View of Merdeka Palace hotel from the Padang. Some nice old trees on the Padang, which used to provide welcome shade for us students when we had to assemble here for various celebrations.
Photos #1, #2 and #4 were kindly contributed via Leo Sia. The rest were either taken by yours truly or shamelessly plagiarised from someone else :-) Please keep sending me any pictures you may have taken around town to keep this Random Photo Album going.
Cheers.
on pic #4, i still liked the old Aurora Hotel better than Merdeka Palace. espec. the old coffee house.
ReplyDeletei wonder if the gu bak kueh teow is still as good at the Open Air Mkt ?
ReplyDeleteJohn: Great photos again. Very much to my heart and memories. If those of you can remember, that my parents had a shop (the Infamous "Corner-shop") at Gartak Street, right opposite Electra House. I think a number of you would remember that we spent a lot of time there (chatting up girls, helping out, etc). We would set off on our bicycles after closing time to cinemas, play card games, ringing up girls from St Teresa, sleepover during weekends, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou should check out Random Photo Album #2, John. I think there's a shot of the "Corner Shop".
