Grand Reunion Updates #6

I almost forgot it was update time again. It's now ONE WEEK to the Big Day !!!

Here's the NST frontpage for today ... 16th December 1976

As usual, lots of exciting events happening in Malaysia and around the world ... I can see headlines on a deadly landslide at Sungei Kuyoh mine, a bomb explosion at Baghdad airport, Japan's LDP president announcing his resignation, and Sheik Yamani calling for a six-month oil price freeze ... Then we have the ads (which always fascinate me) - Waterman pens, Ban Sin Optical Co, Cathay Pacific and the new Austin Allegro ... ok, ok so some of those companies haven't quite made it after 33 years.

Updates

Now for our last batch of updates. It's likely that over the next few days, there'll be several other little announcements to add, so please check back on this posting frequently.

(1)  For now, let me share with you the programme for the day (23rd Dec). Note that the morning and afternoon sessions are optional, but we hope many will join as it'll give us all more time to relive old memories.

10.00am : Down to Memory Lane (School Visit)

• Meet at 10.00am sharp at School Office.
Please be punctual. Prefects will be on duty, and fines may be hefty
Bring cameras if you wish to record the event for posterity.

11.00am : Brunch at St Michael's Cafe (Rock Road, near Timberland) after School Visit

1.00pm :  Reflexology Session

(** For Morning Session, Please RSVP to Jensen Ng Khoon Teck at H/P +6013 3991341 to confirm attendance before 21 December 2009 **)

7.00pm "THE BIG 50" REUNION PARTY
            @ MERDEKA PALACE HOTEL
            (BALAI MUHIBBAH, 2ND FLOOR)

(2)  I'll also repeat the call for drinking attendees to bring 1 or 2 bottles of some of the spirits they'd like (whisky, brandy, cognac, rum, etc etc etc), as Merdeka Palace will not charge corkage for those.  There will be corkage charged for beer however.

(3)  I've also been requested to add another reminder on the "Dress Code" for our reunion party ... well, you probably know it is causal white shirt (long or short sleeve or no sleeve) with jeans or dark colour long pants. So if you don't have any shirts white enough, there's still time to bleach them. Ha ha!

(4)  The party starts at 7.00pm . Group photo will be taken at 7:30pm so that we can all get the prints before the night is over. Do make sure you are around at 7:30pm (even if you have to go to the toilet, please hold it in !! LOL) ,,, or you might find yourself missing from the official photograph.

(5)  Note that the venue for brunch has been changed to St Michael's Cafe, which is at 3rd Mile, next to Timberland Hospital.

(6)  All attendees should take note of the following mobile nos :

Jensen Ng KT : 0133991341
Robert Chin : 0168774018
Ben Wong : 012 8989868
Bob Chew Pok Vun : 013 8020620

  2. Pear Soap, sadly not attending the reunionDecember 16, 2009 at 9:42 PM

    Hi...guys

Have a great time on the day (am/pm). I wonder if you have considered your visit during the morning session. As there will be a number of you, would it not be ideal if some of you arrange a pick up or meet at a large car park and help to reduce the carbon emission in the environment and car share, better still arrange a mini bus waiting to pick everybody at a meeting place (you know like tourists going to places of interest).

What about also going to the museum and try out the iced kachang and have a "fight"!!!!....lol....hahahahha

  3. Half a dozen bottles was requested for initially. Then it went down to 2 or 3 bottles. Now it is just 1 or 2 bottles.
Hopefully it will not be 0 bottles come 23rd.

  4. Hai guys, I think we just bring along 1 bottle each, that should be sufficient for everyone, some may not bring but can share share la. I don't think I can finish the 1 bottle I am going to bring. There won't be any 0 bottles Leo, I'm taking a note of that.

  6. No lah, let's agree for each drinking person to bring two bottles. For sure you'll have enough. If excess, you can always "ta pau" home.

You also need to pay the non-drinkers a fee to bring you home afterwards when you are all flat out. ha ha ha!

Just Q to organizers: soft drinks provided, ya?

  12. Yeah, I think it will be a good idea to have brunch at the new St Mike's Cafe instead. More meaningful.

  13. St. Mike's cafe is a good idea, hopefully we can all fit in as I think that cafe is quite small, bearing in mind the cafe regulars and the public. Oh well, don't think there will be many going over. Maybe call up John to book the place.

  14. I still remember the good old days , when St.Mike's was still at their old premises, there is was a husband & wife kolo mee seller where there a rumour that the wife scraped her toe nails with the knife which was used to cut the cha siew....

  15. Yup, I heard John has been informed and he's delighted to meet all of us.

  16. Worse still, I saw her pick her nose. But then again their kolo mee and kueh tiaw were good.

  17. Or kui nizer, you informed John? Great.

  18. A lesson from life experience: never upset the waitress/waiter when you go for a meal (although it does not stop some unhygienic behaviour of some food servers or chefs) or visit the kitchen.

  19. Agreed with Food Lover 100%! Wanna hear stories well, tell you all when we meet on 23rd. It involved a four star hotel!

  20. White shirt and dark pants. We are all going to look like a bunch of old office workers who have just come off work.

Or look like members of political parties - white shirt/dark pants is synonymous with MCA and SUPP gatherings.

Someone suggested we bring a bag with a change of clothes if we are going to paint the town red after the dinner. :-)

  21. Two more days to go fellows! White shirt and dark pants would be like lawyers, can join Georgie boy to attend court cases.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aiyo! I wear white shirt and dark pants every day. Now at this great party, I got to dress like I am going to work again. Sheesh... can I have special exemption to wear something else???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sinos, think we can wear our Cambodia's T shirt inside our white shirt? Later can take off our shirt to show our T shirt to everyone. Got school badge somemore, hehe.
