RANDOM PHOTO ALBUM #4

A couple more shots of familiar Kuching sites ...

Fig 1: Self-explanatory
(Whoever chose the colour of the wall paint ought to be shot!)

Fig 2 : Round Building near old Court Houses

(Now used as some Cultural centre)

Fig 3: Old Fire Lookout Tower at Open Air Market

(Bet you didn't know that there was a Fire Station at this location a long time ago)

Fig 4: Tua Pek Kong Temple (on a hazy day?)

Enjoy ...

  1. On Fig 1, what's wrong with the color? After all it IS India Street ... heehee

  2. Re Fig 1. It's terracotta, an earthy colour. Obviously you don't garden much Jimmy!

  3. Gardening? Nah ... when I was a kid, I had to pull lots of weeds around our old house. I guess that put me off gardening for life ;-)

  4. India Street must have been painted since I was home last May. I don't think the colour is very common in Asian countries but very much used around the Mediterranean.
Can't remember the Watch Tower at all. Must spent more time reconnecting with Kuching again.
nice to see you again, James and Jimmy as well. Peter Ngiam pointed me to your blog in the past couple of weeks so it's wonderful to catch up with old school friends.

  6. Since leaving Brighton, I have been living in Nottingham, nearly 30 years ago now. I have been working as an accountant in an accoutants' practice also based in Nottingham. All pretty mundane and still hoping to repay my mortgage one day!!!! I didn't know that you are in S'pore. Pheng Siew was there until recently when he returned to Shanghai. When I was back in Kch last May I was hoping to pop over to see him but ran out of time. Must catch up with you when I do get to S'pore next. Btw, I am back in Kch again this May sp if you are around, it will wonderful to meet up again!! Should anyone be desperate to get in touch with me again, my email address is eric.km.tan@hotmail.co.uk!?

  7. Yes, pls do get in touch with me (jslyong@hotmail.com) when you're next in S'pore. BTW can you send me the contacts for Pheng Siew and Peter Ngiam? It's been ages since we last met.

  8. And also ... how about sharing a recent photo of you in Nottingham for the website? Also it'll help us recognise you if we ever bump into each other in the street.

This same request goes out to all others who have been visiting this site. Do send me (jslyong@hotmail.com) a digital photo with an (optional but highly desired) little writeup ... I'll do the rest.

KCH, here I come !!!!.. Be back in early March for a one week break..Thanks to AirAsia, going home is more affordable these days, from Cambodia, I mean... Surely, meeting up up with the boys who are in KCH is a must...apart from makan all the food that I miss.. The old llokout/ watch tower of the bomba now looks small...unlike when I was a kid, it looked mammoth, man...

    Keep on writing, guys !!
