One Morning at Choon Hui Cafe ...

A bunch of the guys (and one lady) met up for breakfast at Choon Hui Cafe, on Ban Hock Road, Kuching, this morning.

LtoR: George, Gina (Mrs GL), Bob, Ben, Robert, Norbert & Datuk Justin Jinggut.
Jensen Ng Koon Teck was also there, but had to leave earlier. And Edmund Lee Ah See was the photographer.

Datuk Justin not only belanja'ed the breakfast and paid his RM100 dues for the Grand 50 Reunion, but on top of that, he contributed another RM500 in sponsorship of the Reunion. Hurray! Terima kasih, Datuk JJ, for your generosity!!!

Looks like the Organising Committee for the event is well on its way to making happen "the Mother of all Reunions" , as some have called it ... Great job, guys.

  2. Apology..it's Choon Hui cafe not Choon Choon.
All the empty laksa bowls cleared from table by the laksa lady. Can't wait any longer...chit-chat until 11.15am from 9.00am.
Datuk JJ how would like your steak done? I love it very much.

  5. Hello WJ,
Good evening. Belum tidur pak. Your respond to 7.52pm is quick. You really, really jaga. Wow..jaga remind me of the bayi jaga the bank in kuching.

  6. Thanks Robert. These days, with pervasive wireless Internet, we're connected everywhere we are. That bayi jaga outside the bank could be my subliminal inspiration.

  10. Maybe partly the lighting effect. But unfortunately, I have always had fair complexion. I tried go suntan but the colour disappears after 3 days. Too fair, not very macho, huh? Sigh ...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Can always top up on suntan every 3 days. But you look vely sui with your signature fair and rosy complexion,Georgie boy. A Geordie boy you're not!

  12. Waaaaa Philip, lucky I know you very well to know you are not that type. But others might get the wrong impression!!! Be careful. LOL

  13. I think George is just anaemic. I think he needs a gastroscopy and almost definitely a COLONOSCOPY urgently.

  14. Bogus Medic - is that colonscope thingie like shoving something up "where the sun don't shine" ?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, Bogus Medic, all us middle aged men gotta have a colonoscope sooner or later ... you done yours? Maybe you can tell us all what it's like before I try it out.

Maybe WJ can put up a new section for sharing colonoscopic experiences ... LOL!

  16. Yeah, a "Colonoscopy Tips" posting would be just perfect right after a "Gourmet Tips" posting. LOL

  17. Better stand-by "ang chap jee" on the night as some 50 yrs engine may need to re start due to all the excitements.....pole dancers and what not.

  23. We shall ask for that popiah stall to be set up to cater a side dish for us at the reunion dinner - that luvly popiah princess will be there to serve us ...

    Any other special request?

We are currently interviewing applicants for pole dancing. Mark sent us the resume of one from Mongolia. She looks to have all the right attributes ...

  24. Pole dancing ah? Haiyo, be careful friend...at 50, our engine many not be able to lajak lah, you know.

After lajak ah, break no eat how? Bcoz tyre no flower mah !!

Don't 4get ah, we will have a priest among us so..kena control sikit lah..heehhaa !!

    ReplyDelete
  25. how come anon 2.57 never share the resume he received from Mark?

Actually all these talks about lajak the engine maybe a bit too premature. We still have a long way to go to 23rd Dec boys.

You have to pace yourself properly and peak at the right time.

I am afraid that when 23rd Dec arrives you boys are already a spent force. You need to work out bit by bit, do some brisk walking, get on the treadmill, sweat out a little and slowly up the tempo.

You boys have 9 weeks to go. Hopefully at the end of it all your old bones are not too creaky.

    Hehehehe...dont be angry..thousand apology!

  26. Brudder,
With all this talking about you know what on 23rd, some visa memang tidak approved by ministry of Home affairs. cool down a bit.
Mrs Minister, I can assure all this cakap is just Hot air only nothing more.

  27. Aiya, why so paranoid??? We even have a priest attending (altho I hear he's a cool priest :) I'm sure he will bless the occasion !

  28. The difference between a SJS 76er with Guts and a SJS 76er with Balls -

    - the 50 yr with guts is one who came back from the Big 50 Reunion at 3am and saw wifey waiting at the door with a broom in her hand; he stopped momentarily and asked "Flying off somewhere honey?"

    - the 50 yr old with guts is one who came back from the Big 50 Reunion at 3am with the pole dancer's lipsticks all over his shirt and saw a very stern wifey waiting at the door; he just walked on and as he passed her, smack her backside and said "You are next honey!"

Hehehe...I think most of us are neither.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ooops sorry...the 2nd one with balls la...sudah tua ma...

  30. Dato'AM,

Heehaaaa!!!.. This is a good one.

What about the bini who "orchestra" you when you buy an expensive toy?

Ask Sabun King, Norbert Liew, Robert Chin...they will know this story ..!!

    See you soon Dato'.

  31. Good one Dato'AM,

    Someone talking from experience.

Any more to share. We're still learning even at 50.

  32. - the 50 yr with GUTS AND BALLS is one who came back from the Big 50 Reunion at 3am and saw wifey waiting at the door and says "You guarding the wrong door, lady".

    - the 50 yr with NO GUTS AND NO BALLS is one who came back from the Big 50 Reunion at 3am and saw wifey waiting at the door with and says "Oops, I came to the wrong door, bye".

  33. Here is story of another SJS 76er.

This 50 yr old was comfortably sitting on his lazy chair one sunday afternoon and reading The Borneo Post.

Then wifey came from behind and with a rolled up NST whack the poor chap. Still in shock the 76er asked.. 'what was that for?' (Glad to know NST has its usefulness..hehehe)

Wifey then said .."I found this piece of paper with the name Marylou and hp no in ur shirt pocket!'

Being a SJS 76er he was a quick thinker and said ..."Oh that was the name of the horse I bet on last week and the hp no is my bookie's"

Wifey felt so bad, hugged and cuddled our friend, apologising..."Sorry dear, sorry."

Next sunday, our old SJS friend was again sitting on his lazy chair reading Borneo Post again.

Then came wifey and whack him from behind with a volume of The Encyclopedia Brittanica.

Our friend pengsan for half an hour. Whe he woke up, still groggy he asked again..."what was that for?"

With stern face and arms folded, she said ..."Your horse called." hehehe

Moral of he story don't bet on the wrong horse and start reading NST instead of Borneo Post...hehehe...enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  34. These days no need to worry, lah. Encyclopedia Brittanica is only a CD ... whack also won't hurt much :-)

  35. We must videotape reunion session & give all a copy for memory la! At our 75 Year, and then 100 Year Reunion, we will play back and watch. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alas, it will be a dwindling audience size ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. aiyaa...sad story la...why la? lets paint more positive and happy picture

  38. Dato Morning (Dato AM lah :-) is right. Why be so gloomy ?

Look on the bright side. With advancements in medical science, human longevity figures are fast rising (even the team who got the 2009 Nobel Prize for Medicine were working on something that had to do with aging, I believe).

Currently the male average for our region is almost 80. In the next twenty years, it'll probably reach near 100.

So we're only halfway, boys. Long way to go. Lots of things we can and should be doing.

  39. One of the medical wonders is most definitely colonscopy. So guys get one done...if there's anything inside, it will be nipped in the bud!Dont be cowards...you wont feel a thing...you will be sedated, everything will be all over by the time you wake up.You will get a CD for you to watch the inside of your gut at your leisure! The plus side, all you highly stressed executives would have the most relaxed wonderful sleep to boot. The downside is the liquid you have to take & the numerous times you have to run to the loo before your wonderful sleep (the kind Michael Jackson craved for)! enjoy!
