Mini Album from Across the Bridge

I've been gently reminded that I haven't provided much coverage of our sisters from Across the Bridge in recent months. Let me assure you this isn't deliberate - only that in the past few months there've been several other topics and activities that have distracted my focus in this blog.

So to redeem myself, here's a Mini Album of photographs of our STS sisters from the 1970s. I'm afraid you guys will have to do the identification of the roses for yourselves. Nor can I provide any clues on when, where and why.

What's happening here ?

Baywatch ?

The Committee ?

Hitting the High Notes ?

Snacks and Beer ?

Over to you ....

  12. Hi...Anon 1:04
Like you I was hidding behind a pseudonym name as an Anon recently like so many of you guys/gals. If you can't beat them, join them....LOL.

Anyway, why do you think that a smart person would know the names of these lovely gals from across the bridge? It is more like WHO you know and NOT WHAT you know that also put alot of people in "high" places. Apology to those academics...this is a common saying and it happen a lot in places where I would not really like to state publicly (may be as an ANON and I can get away with it...). Btw, I am only an innocent shopkeeper's son, what do I know about gals?. The best person would be to ask Tuan WJ to disclose the keeper of these photos and this person surely will know some if not all the gals in the photos. My guess could be either Mrs JY or Mrs JK or LK?. Ok, to satisfy your curiosity, some of these lovely gals that I can recognised are: Shau Pey (Audrey); Jenny Poh; Lucy Ngu; Chih Shan; Hui Cheng, Elizabeth Lee; possibly Winnie; and of course Lee Kien too.

In fact I can tell you who would know most of the gals from across the bridge, our "old" friend, Philip Hii - who is currently living in Ireland. I would like to bet against anyone (male/female) to name anyone else who would know more than him. He was the Johnny Depp of our time. LOL

These photos must be one of the groups from the school society, could be the Choral/Dramtic Society.

The sequence of events could be:

    Pic 3 - The members
Pic 1 - The welcome party to the show with VIPs and advisors/trachers
    Pic 4 - The performers
Pic 5 - The after show makan, after a quick change. The beers were not for them, they were drinking coca cola, lah
Pic 2 - The outing at Santubong or bako after all the hard work

    Best wishes to all.

  16. Hi...All

    ....I was thinking...mmZZZZmmmmZZZZmmm

I know this is not the right time to bring up this topic at this time of the year - i.e topic on Valentine's day (there was one already in Feb 09 blog) but this can be broaden into an Affectionate Day, expression of gesture by way of sending cards anonymously or otherwise and can be done at any time of the year.

Do you ever get cards like that?
Do you ever send one or a few to those you fancy even in a distance?
Do you ever send one in any context at all but anonymously?
Do you even thought of sending one but never get round to it?...hey they say it the thoughts that count but what's the point (only matters on love and affection), it will be too late and you lost the love of your life...maybe. LOL
Like in the song: My Way (made popular by Frank Sinatra) - ......Regrets I have had a few!!!!!!
Now, do not treat it just for love or affection only, you can send a nice card to a friend, a good friend, loved ones or family even just to say hello and/or just thinking of you and especially to those who are ill.

So, my friends, life is short, some of us are in our 50s, sending nice words, gesture of affections in any methods will make someone out there very happy even for a few seconds would mean alot. Like LK said how nice it is to be able to smell the flowers. Always remember, when you are feeling down - there are others who are worst than you.

On the lighter side: there was one year that I received a number of valentine cards and I have no idea who sent them and they were quite explicit, probably that's why they were anonymous!!!!. Hope they were from some female admirers!!! LOL

  17. In the "Committee" photo #3, girl in front row seated 3rd from right is Beatrice Tan

  18. John,

You have Jimmy to thank for.Ah the posting of Mr Novice perhaps helped to send that "avalanche" of secret female admirers..hahaha!

However all of us (you know who they are)are very touched by your thoughtful gesture. We only hope there are many more of you...makes the world a better place. Thanks so much & take care..

  25. Valentine's Day was traditionally celebrated where lovers send cards to express their love etc.Nowadays anybody can send to any ANON as an expression of love, sharing joy and happiness to your friends, family and dear ones.

Anon October 24,2009 2.41PM you want a Valentine card too? You gotta provide address and who knows you might have to borrow the sacks from John

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi..Anon 2:41
There is no age restriction on sending V cards, lah or any other cards. In fact, it makes it even more interesting to receive a V card or admiration card from an admirer now or later!!!!!, makes us feel alive and wanted and the feeling that someone out there still desire us or thinking of us!!! as well as keeping our tickers working overtime. LOL

So...Anon 2:41 and all, your next task is: to go out and get a card (can be of gratitude, thank you, thinking of you, love, friendship card, etc) and send it to one or more persons - friends or family. You do not even have to put your name on it. I can guarantee your action(s) will touch the receiver that words cannot expressed.
