Well done to our brightest buddies - for their sterling results and, in some cases, their snazzy hairstyles too !

  1. 1. St. Joseph's & Sacred Heart (both La Salle Schools) are tops in Sarawak. Yayyyyyyy...
    2. Lawrence Chim? Correction - Chin.
    3. Look at HBC's hair - what happened to them?

  2. Correction to Kelvin Chin too, I think ... KEVIN ... geez, can't journalists spell?

  3. High standard journalism from the Vanguard - can't spell if their life depended on it.

SJS boys certainly better looking than STS boys, don't you agree!?

Faridah was with us in Lower 6 before she went to the UK on a scholarship. We used to tease Ngee Hong mercilessly about him and Faridah.

  4. Thanks for the memories...
    Where is Faridah now, anyone?

  5. KC, referring to your comments that journalist 'can't spell if their life depended on it' and with due respect, the fellow is no longer with us. RIP.

  6. Oh yes, Vanguard itself is history as well. As us Tribune which at least is succeeded by Eastern Times.

  7. Thanks Leo. I hope I haven't caused any offence.

  12. Yes KC, where were you when the pic was taken? Celebrating somewhere I suppose. Haha.

  14. how many subjects did we actually do then? can't remember.

    ReplyDelete
  15. We had to sit for 7 subjects + 1 Bahasa Malaysia. Most of us, unfortunately, did very very badly for BM, except for Min Boon ... all our fault for not paying attention to Chegu Ho

  16. Did we do the Senior Cambridge or MCE?

If i am not mistaken the results was based on the best of 6 subjects, so the best results were 6 units.Of course our friends did better than that.Congratulations!!!

Pass in BM during our time was not compulsory then, that figures why we did not do well. Can't remember the name of our Chegu in STS though, but remembered we girls did make him cry.He used to like to wear pink shirt.

  17. It was a joint examination for the School Certificate (SC) and General Certificate of Education (GCE) and awarded by the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate.

  18. Uncle Lawrence,

Why is your hair so long?

  19. Lee Kien,

We had a choice then...either to do MCE or Cambridge.

I stumbled on this blogsite because last night I was busy looking for some old friends who might be linked to Facebook. what a coincidence.

the chegu was cikgu Rafiee, I think. But we must not forget Cikgu Dayang...the one with the wig, played badminton and the wig tercabut. That was such a hilarious memory.

Roslind Wee...she was always the brainy and very smart girl in the class. And our guinea-pig for science lab experiments too in that class of God fearing teacher, Ms Lim later known as Mrs Hon. She was loud and fierce.

p/s great site btw. Brought back so many nostalgic memories. How apt...at 50 now. lol.

  23. Any similar newspaper clipping for the no doubt equally impressive Form 6 results in 1978?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Did you read of the Pakistani boy who recently got 22 A levels? He got As in all of them except two, where he got a B and a C. Are exams getting easier or what????

  25. The Sarawak Tribune has been revived again, as of last week. Eastern Times is no more.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Any idea how much per month for the newspaper?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, it's RM 1.00 per issue. So there should be some discount for monthly subscription loh. Must be less than RM 30.00 / month.
