Here's another photo contribution from Kevin Chin, now based down under. It features a certain choir with quite a number of members from Form 5 Sc (1976).
The original photo isn't very clear, which is probably just fine for some who wish to keep their "vocal capabilities" under wraps. Still, I'm sure those in the picture will recognise themselves.
I 'm not sure the zoomed-in sections will help much, but here goes anyway ...
So boys & girls, if you find yourself squinting and your lens degrees go up by 200, don't blame me. It's all Kevin's fault. Ha ha ha ...
For 10 bonus points, can anyone remember what were some songs you guys sang on that occasion?

ReplyDeleteHey, guys
ReplyDeleteNoticed our fashion sense!!!!. "Bell" bottom trousers and maybe wearing "clog" shoes. I remembered when I had my trousers made, I asked for it to be as wide as possible(for helping my mum to sweep the floors, I think...hahaha) and long enough to cover my shoes. I had a pair of clogs around that time as well. On hindsight, I might as well buy a pair of clogs (you know those ones with red strip over it to hold your feet) from the shops at Carpenter Street which was so much cheaper. And beatles hair styles...at least most of us had lots of hair then. Mine's thinning on top now, if you must know. Damn those chemical not working!!!!!!
Right on, John. Everyone was wearing bell bottoms those days and I remember I had a light green pair!! They also tended to have high waistlines. And those "cha-kiaks" - you could never walk in them.
ReplyDeleteANNON MAY 5 1:46 PM.
ReplyDeleteKC has done it again...Memory like a bull...haha..
That's me next to LSC and NWK
Anyone remeber the song/songs?
i never knew bulls had good memory. Bulls better known for performance. KC will like that. Here we go again ... ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteWhat performance??? Bulls are best known for their droppings. There's plenty of that going around, not least from me.
ReplyDeleteAs to the song, I think someone mentioned The Last Farewell somewhere in these pages. Could that be some sort of flashback?
Yeah, possibly that's one of the songs. I'd expect u gguys would be making like the Ray Conniff Singers ... popular in those days.
ReplyDeleteWe were a pretty musical bunch back then. We had so many good singers/guitarists like HBC (whose rendition of Kathy's Song won first prize in the singing competition), Cyril M & Chris Sim (who were good at Everly Brothers harmonies), NMB (Kisah Se-orang Riduan - a fabulous Indonesian tune), etc etc. KCK may remember an act called "Buddies KCKCK" where we performed some duet. I recall Chris Kuek saying to me that if he had been part of the act, it could have been known as "KCKCKCK".
ReplyDeleteSome of you may also remember that we went on to stage the first musical ever produced by SJS for the annual school concert - The Mikado - under the direction of Mrs YK Tan and Diana Ho. This was when we were in Form 6 and some of us had pretty meaty roles. It was the first of many musicals to be staged by students in the years to follow. For The Mikado, the art teacher, Mr Lee (Hock Kia?) painted this most beautiful backdrop featuring some Japanese landscape. Hmmmm....sorry for the reminiscing, guys.
I was not there, but even from afar I heard many good things about that production of "The Mikado". Does anyone have any photos from the show they can share?
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love Gilbert & Sullivan plays. Who played the lead male (Nanki Poo) and female (Yum Yum) ?
ReplyDeleteYou guys worked alongside Diana Ho on the show? Aaaahhhh ... so lucky ... sigh. LOL
ReplyDeleteIf my info (>10yrs ago) is right, Diana Ho has settled down in UK.
