Seems that motorbikes were in vogue back in 1978 ...
Look at the cool guys with their wheels.
Would someone care to share the story behind this photo, submitted by Edmund Lee Ah See ?

Must be "Hell's Angels" type. Or "Road Hogs" like the movie.
ReplyDeleteDimana leather jacket????
ReplyDeleteHonda atau Kawasaki?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know where Michael Yeo is? Got his contact? If so, do tell him about this site.
ReplyDeleteTaken in 1978 when the fellows were Upper 6.
ReplyDeleteLee Ah See - i remember him as goalkeeper of the school hockey team. And the name Lim Ah Kee pops up. Wonder if he remembers it?
The last time I met Michael Yeo was at his mother's house at Rubber Road West, Kuching in the early 90-s. Those who know the place can try to get his ctc from his mother assuming she is still staying there.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Michael is still living in Ottawa, Canada.
those were the days when wearing track suit tops were the hottest fashion!
ReplyDeleteWhere did u guys race back then????
ReplyDeleteDear Lee Ah See,
ReplyDeleteNgai tiaw !!.. How on earth did you mamage to save & keep all those pixs, man? You should be the Natiobnal Archive boss, instead??
Datuk Justin's bike back then was a Yamaha mini-scrambler, model TY80...80 cc only lah. Brand new and we had great times of his bikes. Plate number no. KE 2183 and white with red stripe. If I am not wrong, this bike is in a Kapit graveyard. ( He knows the story well).
Wilson Chao's bike could be a Honda 125 or 175 cc. Is that right Wilson?
Me...I used to ride my dad's BSA 250 cc antique motor bike. You could hear me from miles away before I arrive school..
Those were the day where bicyles(esp.racing bikes or Chopper) or motor bikes were symbol of status, if I amy say. Nowadays, see what the school children are driving to school??
Bike ride is still my passion and only recently managed to buy a Honda Hornet 900 cc and go for a long weekend ride here in Siem Reap...weather permiting lah. ( some pixs will be posted soon).
Thanks again, Edmund Lee. Born to Ride !!
Bon weekend,
Sinos
Hi Sinos,
ReplyDeleteWhere is your dad's BSA 250cc motor bike now? Remember the reg. number. I collected 2 BSA 250cc antique motor bike, fully restored. (Model C15 BSA 250cc). Reg. no. K 5908Q and K 1959Q.
Yeah...when i ride the bike on the road people can hear me coming from miles away. it's noise is deaftening.
Every year on 1st May, we have our classic motorbike get together/exhibition. Holding it in
different states on rotation. Participants come as far as from Singapore and Thailand.
Happy riding!!!!
RC, send me a photo or two of you riding your motorbike at one of these May 1st events, and I'll add it to this posting.
ReplyDeleteSomeone has told Michael Yeo (in Canada) of this blog. Hopefully he'll drop by & say hi ...
ReplyDeleteHi Robert,
ReplyDeleteMy dad practically gave away his antique to his friend in Kpg. Mambong. I went there ( last gawai) to look for the bike but his friend had thrown the bike into one of the streams near the clinker area and seem to have been canibalized and a total wreck.
The plate number is only 600 vehicles behind your collection. His number was K 5308 but no Q yet. Red and strong but bllody loud and the kick-start pedal can easily hurt your leg if you are not careful.
Imagine KCH vehicles were around 5000 units already in KCH those times.
I would like to see your prized collection when I return to KCH in Nov. this year...we can also meet up for some kopi-o OK?
Plse also send us pixs of your event. Over here, the only classic bikes around is the Vespa. Others all destroyed during the Khmer Rouge war/regime.
Ride on, man !!
Sinos
Ben,
ReplyDeleteWill our biker friend...Mr. Wilson Chao attend the Big50? Perhaps, the bikers can ride in style to the Big50?
Datuk JJ, Robert Chin, bring your bikes lah...Me, maybe sewa, there is one in KCH?
Thanks
