Soundtrack of Your Life

Movies have soundtracks, the background music or score that accompanies the visual action. Sometimes it is referred to as the theme music.

When it is done well, we tend to remember the soundtrack from a movie for a long, long time.

For instance, from the classic "The Wizard of Oz" (1939), I'd say many of us would remember the song "Somewhere over the Rainbow".

I also bet you can whistle the theme music from the war movie "The Bridge over River Kwai" (1957) or the western "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966).

And what about that tearjerker "Love Story" (1970) ? Then there's the theme music of "The Godfather" (1972), "Star Wars" (1977) and "Forrest Gump" (1994) which are so memorable.

Your children would probably know the theme music from the Harry Potter movies.

Someone once asked me: what is the soundtrack of your life? Like the soundtrack of a movie, the music might go high or low, faster or slower, louder or softer based on the significant events of your life. Think about it for a moment. What is the soundtrack of your life?

  8. Let me guess a few appropriate theme music for some of our classmates ...

Dato' Anthony : theme from "Lou Grant"

George : music from "Boston Legal", "Ally McBeal" or "LA Law"

James Kuo : theme from "House" or "Marcus Welby MD"

Sinos : soundtrack of "Laura Croft & the Tomb Raider"

Nick Lau : music from "Caddyshack" or "The Legend of Bagger Vance"

    Just kidding guys ...

  9. Thanks Gerard. I loved "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly" in our schooldays too. And I'm sure I put my old plastic pistol complete with belt and holster in good use, terrorizing all the neighbours.

Do you guys remember how some toy pistols or rifles made a loud noise when u shoot? There is a little coil of special paper which has some firecracker or power placed in spot at regular intervals on it. The paper feeds thru a hammer mechanism in the toy gun, and when u depress the trigger, it makes the hammer hit the spot and BANG ! These days, you don't find these any more. Maybe too many kids got blinded or burnt by it.

Aaaaaa... "Love Story" with Ryan O'Neal and Ali McGraw. Love means never having to say you're sorry. Sigh.

The soundtrack of my life would include 4 parts. part (1) is like war music cos early life family very poor and all about survival. part (2) is ballad and love song, when i met my girlfrens and eventually my wife . part (3) is happy songs, with my career and business doing okay, and also my children born. part (4) is like more relaxing songs as I transitions into part-time work and half retirement.
