Gone Fishing (Part 3)

Here's a series of photos from our buddy Lipp Kee, now living in Canada.

I don't know the details but I believe this was on a recent fishing trip that he made with his colleagues. Hey, Lipp Kee, I'll have to let you share with the rest exactly what you were up to & where you were ...

Whatever it is, it looks like fun.

Photo (1) : Your yacht, Mr Chieh?

Photo (2) : Nice picture, from this twin engine craft

Photo (3) : What a big plate of "curry fish head" this would make!

Photo (4) : Aye aye, captain!

Photo (5) : Stop being so crabby

Photo (6) : Look at this big one I caught

Photo (7) : Another one for dinner

Photo (8) : Look what my crab net brought in

Thanks for sharing the photos, CLK. Now tell us all what we missed ...

Gone Fishing (Part 2)

I decided to extend my "Gone Fishing" posting when I came across this rather appropriate little puzzle last evening. Let's see how good your logic and reasoning really is ...

As usual, very attractive "no prizes" will be awarded to those who not only can arrive at the right answer, but also explain how they got there. This is to prevent you asking your genius kids to do it, and you simply regurgitate the answer. LOL

Anyway the whole point is to have fun by trying it yourself  ...

Here's the puzzle.

Five men staying at a coastal hotel decide to go fishing on the pier. They sit next to each other, using different bait, and catch different numbers of fish.

1.  The plumber, called Henry, catches one fish fewer than Dick.
2.  The electrician is next to the banker and uses bread for his bait.
3.  The man at the north end of the pier is the banker, who is sitting next to Fred.
4.  The salesman catches only one fish, and is sitting at the south end of the pier.
5.  Meal is the bait used by Malcolm, and the man from Orlando catches 15 fish.
6.  The man from New York uses shrimps for bait and is sitting next to the man who catches one fish.
7.  Joe is from Los Angeles and uses worms as his bait.
8.  The man in the middle is from Tucson and uses a bait of maggots.
9.  The banker catches six fish, three less than the man three places away from him.
10. Dick, who is the middle fisherman, is two seats away from the man from St Louis.
11. The man who is sitting next to the man from New York catches 10 fish and is a professor.
12. Henry did not sit next to Joe.

Work out where each man lives, his occupation, the bait he is using, and how many fish he catches.

Try it out. Logic puzzles help prevent early onset of dementia ...

... and if you get dementia, you might even forget HER !

Gone Fishing

It was such an amazing coincidence that while I was looking at reviews of a short film called "Gone Fishing" this morning, I received an email from ELAS. He had forwarded me a couple of old photos (courtesy of Jude Jong) and after looking at the first one, I knew that I had to share it soon (though I was tempted to save it for the Grand Reunion). The film also linked to the theme of departed friends, which was also recently touched on in the blog.

"Gone Fishing" was released in 2008 by producer and writer Chris Jones. It is the touching story of a boy and older man coming to terms with bereavement through their shared love of fishing, and the legend of Goliath, the biggest pike ever caught.

Now take a look at the youthful faces featured in this next picture ...

I'm sure this was after one of their longkang fishing exploits. Note the plastic bag of fishies held by Jude.

I'll let you guys name the individuals in the photo.

Happy reminiscing ...
