Musical Interlude

.
Nice song from the Seventies. David Soul, the "Hutch" of "Starsky and Hutch", launched his singing career with this beautiful number. I agree that the images have little connection with the song lyics, but they do look nice. So turn up your PC volume, and click the play button ...

Enjoy ...

At the height of his success of playing in the hit TV detective show "Starsky and Hutch", David Soul returned to one of his early career choices as a singer. His debut, the Tony Macaulay written and produced "Don't Give Up on Us" was a worldwide smash, spending 4 weeks at #1 on the UK Singles Chart in Jan and Feb 1977 and one week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1977.

  5. Jimmy, thank you for the upload. I feel quite nostalgic for this song where I(we) grew up with.

Was he a one hit wonder? The other was Leo Sayer I think with 'More than I can say'.
    Wow..wow..yeah yeah...

  6. My old time favourite is "Goodbye Girl" by David Gates of Bread. Such a soothing voice.

  7. Gerard, I think David Soul had another hit song called "Silver Lady". His other songs didn't quite make it.

If I'm not mistaken, Leo Sayer had quite a few popular songs. Other than the song you mentioned, three others I liked very much were "One Man Band", "When I Need You" and "You make me feel like dancing".

  9. Anyone know the title of the song that has the wording:
    Changing partner like changing underwear?

  10. Ah, in reply to anon 9.53, the famous lyrics by Bread in Yours for Life.

  11. Yup, here it goes:
In this day and age where changes happen twice as fast
Sometimes I get wonderin' if anything will last
People changin' partners like they change their
    underwear
Maybe I'm old-fashioned but darlin' I still care.

Wonder how many of you, loverboys did that when your testosterone level was at its highest peak...

  16. Good friends we have had, oh good friends we've
    lost along the way
In this bright future you can't forget your past
So dry your tears I say

  21. Chris, I like Sir Cliff's songs but I guess 'The Young Ones' is my all time fav.

    The young ones,
    SJS we're the young ones,
And young ones shouldn't be afraid.
To live, love, While the flame is strong,
for we won't be the young ones very long.

    Once in every lifetime
    comes a friendship like this.
I need you and you need me.
    Oh SJS can't you see.

    Young dreams
    Should be dreamed together,
And the young hearts shouldn't be afraid.
And some day when the years have flown
SJS, then will teach the young ones of our own.
